Who is AOOQuery?
Like Beyoncé’s Sasha Fierce, I’ve found that taking on a separate persona allows me to live life in different ways. View life in different ways. Speak to life in different ways. AOOQuery is the bass in my voice and the curiosity in my soul. She holds a place on stage when I would rather be in the crowd. When you have conversations that need to come into the light, you speak to AOOQuery. She gets stuff done.
I come from a place of harsh reflection and gentle curiosity;
As someone who comes from a mixed heritage, I’ve always felt as if I were having three different conversations simultaneously.
Who am I? Who are you? What am I? Why does it matter? Whom do I want to become? How do I get there?
Often times my part of these conversations is typical, “I don’t know, but I will find out. I will dig deeper to find my needs and push past my wants.” Constantly challenging myself and being challenged by the world has opened my eyes (which are very big) to so many perspectives. I couldn’t imagine doing that without intrusive conversation that pushed me to want more of myself. When I opened myself to the world, it gave back in abundance. When I asked questions I received answers in so many ways. It allowed me to move forward and learn more about myself.
I carry these experiences into my work as a creative public relations professional. Communication is vital, especially communicating with yourself. You can't ask people to do what you haven't tried yourself.
